Our Signature Anti-Aging Facial Creams and Gels
We believe that some of the best products for your body come from nature, and we're committed to using as many natural ingredients in our hand-blended products as safely possible without sacrificing product stability and purity or jeopardizing your continued well-being (see Enhancing and Protecting to the Highest Standards). Our natural ingredients are obtained from reputable sources committed to exemplary production standards. Though many of our products contain at least 90% natural ingredient, our goal is to create a line of products that are at least 95% natural and contain the highest levels of the vitamins, minerals, Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids (EFAs) and antioxidizing ingredients known to maintain and improve healthy skin...and contribute to a healthier you. Aloe Vera Extract -- Aloe vera extract is a great skin conditioner, softener and has soothing benefits. Historically it has been used to treat sunburn and inflammation. It is a healthy skin regenerator and healing agent that easily penetrates skin, stimulating the immune system and increasing blood circulation. As an anti-inflammatory and anti-aging ingredient, it increases collagen synthesis and skin elasticity. Allantoin -- Allantoin is used to hasten the growth of new, healthy tissue and acts as a skin protectant.
Apricot Oil -- Because apricot kernel oil is readily absorbed into the skin without leaving an oily residue behind, it is an excellent choice of carrier oil for all skin types. For skin nutrition, apricot kernel oil contains the essential fatty acids oleic and linoleic acid. It is also high in vitamins A and E. All of these substances can help to sooth irritated skin while also moisturizing. Regular applications of apricot kernel oil or products containing it can keep skin smooth and flexible. Coconut Oil Fractions -- A dry, silky feeling oil derived from an esterification of coconut oil fatty acids and glycerin. It is used in place of glycerin alone, to produce a rich, non-sticky emollient. Emulsifying Wax -- An emulsifier allows water-based, oil-based and other ingredients to properly blend and remain stable in the finished product. This natural, vegetable-derived blend provides excellent stability. Essential Oils -- Essential oils are the natural volatile oils extracted from plant materials. Whenever possible, we use pure essential oils as the basis for our fragrances. Exfoliants -- We use several types of natural and finely-ground exfoliants in our products because they each have different, and complementary, traits. Apricot Seeds provide the traditional "roughness" that most people expect in an exfoliant. Luffa is a natural sponge that is usually used in its whole form as an exfoliating applicator of liquid cleanser. However, we add ground luffa in a near-powder form to our cleanser, which adds a medium-roughness texture to the cleansing process. Vanilla beans serve two purposes: First, as an excellent light-weight exfoliant that is particularly well suited to people who want just a hint of roughness on more sensitive areas like face. Secondly, the beans provide a wonderful natural vanilla aroma to the cleanser, so no other fragrance need be added. Grapeseed Oil -- Highly absorptive grapeseed oil does not leave a greasy feeling and is wonderful for those with skin sensitivities because of its natural non-allergenic properties. It is a preferred cosmetic ingredient for damaged and stressed tissues, possessing regenerative and restructuring qualities which allow a better control of skin moisturization. It can help skin retain the normal structure of epithelium cells and nerve cells via supporting the cell membranes and is noted to be especially effective for repair of the skin around the eyes. Used as an all-over skin moisturizer, Grapeseed Oil is known to also reduce stretch marks. Grape seeds contain powerful antioxidants and resveratrol, which recent studies have shown can slow the onset of virtually all of the aging diseases --coronary, arthritis, cancer, and Alzheimer's -- as well as slowing bone loss (osteoporosis), boosting endurance, promoting hair growth, and re-energizing cells. Grapeseed Oil also contains a high percentage of Omega 6 (Linoleic) essential omega fatty acids (EFAs), which can significantly raise HDL ("good") cholesterol and reduce LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels. Hemp Seed Oil -- Hemp Seed Oil is considered to be the most nutritional oil available, with superb healing and regenerative properties. Hemp Seed Oil is anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, balances dry skin, fights skin inflammations, helps heal skin lesions, contains antioxidants, and promotes moisture balance. The oil is non-greasy and readily penetrates the skin. Hemp Seed Oil contains antioxidants, protein, carotene, phytosterols, phospholipids, as well as a number of minerals including calcium, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, iron, zinc, and phosphorus. It contains all twenty known amino acids, including the nine essential amino acids. It also contains Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, D, and E. The vitamins and minerals present in Hemp Seed Oil are easily absorbed through the skin, resulting in a more vitamin and mineral enriched body care product. It is exceptionally rich in both Omega-6 (Linoleic) and Omega-3 (Linolenic) EFAs in a proportion of 3:1, which is the recommended balance of Omega-6 to Omega-3 EFAs. Its percentage of EFAs is higher than any other plant in the world. EFAs are necessary for our health, and are responsible for the luster in our skin, hair, eyes, transferring oxygen to the every cell in our body, and even the clarity in our thought processes. They also lubricate and clear the arteries, strengthen the immune system, and help prevent viruses and other threats to our immune system. Herbal Highlighteners -- This special herbal extract blend promotes natural complementary highlights and tones, especially to damaged or over-processed hair. Hydroxyethylcellulose -- Hydroxyethylcellulose is a modified plant fiber used as a thickener that helps bind other ingredients together. Jojoba Oil -- Jojoba Oil comes from the beans of the shrub like plant, simmondsia chinensis. It is an effective cleanser, conditioner, moisturizer, and softener for the skin and hair. It is extremely desirable in skin care products because it is chemically very similar to human sebum, which is naturally secreted by human sebaceous glands to lubricate and protect skin and hair. When sebum production decreases due to age, pollutants, or environmental stresses, Jojoba Oil can be used to replicate sebum oil. It penetrates skin rapidly and is an excellent moisturizer and emollient, reduces wrinkles and stretch marks, lightens and helps heal scars, is non-greasy, and protects partly from UV radiation with a natural SPF factor of approximately level 4. Keratin Amino Acids -- Since it has a composition similar to hair and is small enough to penetrate the hair shaft, Keratin Amino Acids act as a powerful moisturizer and conditioner. It is ideal for hair that has suffered cuticle damage due to the hair’s increased porosity. It can help give the hair more sheen and increased volume. Magnesium Sulfate -- Magnesium is the second-most abundant element in human cells and the fourth-most important positively charged ion in the body and is vital to good health and well being. Magnesium helps to regulate the activity of more than 325 enzymes and performs a vital role in orchestrating many bodily functions, from muscle control and electrical impulses to energy production and the elimination of harmful toxins. The National Academy of Sciences, however, reports that most Americans are magnesium deficient, estimating that the average American male gets just 80% of the magnesium required for good health, while females get only 70% of their recommended levels. Researchers have found that magnesium increases energy and stamina by encouraging the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy packets made in the cells. Studies also indicate that absorbing magnesium through the skin may help to relieve stress in a number of ways, including:
Calcium drains magnesium from the body, and calcium can only perform its role in the cells when sufficient magnesium is present. Studies indicate that taking a calcium supplement without ensuring the body also receives enough magnesium can therefore amplify the shortage of both nutrients. Researchers have found that most Americans have five times as much calcium as magnesium in their bodies; the proper ratio for optimum absorption of both minerals is about two to one. Sulfates are needed for the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the mucin proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. Studies show that sulfates also stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and help to detoxify the body's residue of medicines and environmental contaminants. Studies also indicate that sulfates are difficult to absorb from food, but are readily absorbed through the skin. Sulfates also:
Magnesium sulfate is a pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate in crystal form that gently exfoliates skin and smoothes rough patches. It is easily absorbed through the skin to replenish the body's levels of magnesium and sulfate. Mango Butter -- Mango Butter is extracted from the fruit kernels of the mango tree (Mangifera indica). It has natural emollient properties, contains antioxidizing vitamins and nutritional fatty acids, promotes wound healing and skin regeneration. Mango Butter has been traditionally used in the rainforests and tropics for its skin softening, soothing, moisturizing and protective properties and to restore flexibility and reduce degeneration of skin cells. It has a protective effect against UV radiation. Dermatologists often recommend Mango Butter for treatment of wrinkles, as most people who use it will notice decreased signs of aging and the disappearance of lines and wrinkles within 4 to 6 weeks of daily use. It has also been documented to relieve itching and sunburned skin, prevent or reduce stretch marks, relieve skin allergies such as poison ivy or poison oak, and treat eczema and dermatitis. Shea Butter -- Shea Butter is the plant fat of the nuts of the African Karite tree (butyrospermum parkii). It is a potent moisturizer and emollient, provides some skin care protection against UV radiation, has anti-inflammatory and and anti-aging properties and can heal minor wounds and sooth irritated skin. Shea Butter contains allantoin (which hastens the growth of new, healthy tissue and acts as a skin protectant), stearic and oleic acids, and vitamins A and E. Vitamin A in Shea Butter is important for improving a number of skins conditions, including blemishes, wrinkles, eczema, and dermatitis. The benefits of Vitamin E include its anti-wrinkling properties and increasing the micro-circulation to the skin, which results in increased blood supply to and from the skin. Sodium Lactate - Sodium lactate is a natural humectant, moisturizer and pH regulator produced from renewable resources and completely biodegradable. Studies have shown it offers better short term and long term moisturization than glycerin. Stearic Acid - Stearic acid is a natural fatty acid occurring in vegetable fats and is used used to thicken body lotions, butters, balms and soaps. and give them a soft, pearly feel. Xanthan Gum - A natural thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier. It is derived from plant products such as soy, corn or other plants.
Our clinically-formulated additives and anti-microbial/anti-bacterial preservatives are widely used and deemed safe and effective by the highest testing standards for cosmetic and cosmeceutical application. Fragrance Oils -- Fragrance oils are blends of aroma components that are created to smell like the real thing. Many fragrance oils are blended from natural essential oils, but because they are not guaranteed to be 100% essential oil they are called fragrance oils and cannot be considered "natural". Optiphen™ -- Optiphen is a paraben-free and formaldehyde-free preservative, the combination of phenoxyethanol and an emollient base.
Our Signature Anti-Aging Facial Creams and Gels In the category of anti-aging facial products, extensive research and testing has resulted in a superior blend of well-known, clinically tested ingredients proven to reduce and reverse the signs of aging and help restore skin's natural health and beauty: Aloe Vera (200x) -- At a super-concentrated (200x) level, this natural Aloe Vera is a potent moisturizer, healthy skin regenerator and healing agent that easily penetrates skin, stimulating the immune system and increasing blood circulation. As an anti-inflammatory and anti-aging ingredient, it increases collagen synthesis and skin elasticity. Argirelene™ -- With its active ingredient, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Argirelene is a combination of amino acids that relax and reduce the degree of current facial wrinkles and the formation of future wrinkles. This formula uses the maximum safety-tested level, similar to that used by popular Botox-alternative wrinkle treatments on the market, to offer you significant anti-wrinkle activity. Brookosome ACE™ -- Brookosome ACE is a trademarked liposome system that concentrates and more effectively delivers Vitamins A, C and E to your skin.
Collagen Amino Acids -- Collagen is the principle component of connective tissue and is critical to the formation and maintenance of healthy, youthful skin. The ability of collagen amino acids to penetrate into the hair cuticle or upper layers of the skin is thought to lead to greater moisture uptake. It retains large amounts of water and is added to the best formulas to help alleviate dry, flaky skin and improve skin elasticity. DMAE -- DMAE has been demonstrated to tighten skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Some DMAE studies have shown that it reduces the accumulation of lipofuscin deposits inside cells. Lipofuscin is a cellular pigment consisting of aggregated chunks of molecular waste. It is likely that lipofuscin is not simply a byproduct of aging but also contributes to the aging process. DMAE may also increase acetylcholine levels in the skin, by affecting smooth muscle contraction. Haloxyl™ -- Compared to commercially available under-eye products that use Hylexin™, studies have shown that Haloxyl may reduce under-eye dark circles by more than 60% when used as directed. Infra-orbital shadows or "dark circles" under the eye area caused by an accumulation of hemoglobin and colored degradation products (biliverdin, bilirubin and iron) in the dermis and epidermis. The active ingredients in Haloxyl stimulate an enzyme that leads to the clearance of bilirubin and makes the iron soluble, allowing it to be eliminated. Hyaluronic Acid -- Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in the way your skin looks, feels, and functions. A natural complex sugar found in all mammals, it's a major component of the connective tissue matrix in the dermis—the dense, inner layer of skin beneath the epidermis. This matrix is made up of hyaluronic acid as well as two connective fibers—collagen and elastin. As you age and your skin is exposed to environmental pollutants and the sun's ultraviolet rays, your cells gradually lose the ability to produce hyaluronic acid. Your skin tissue becomes dehydrated and the collagen and elastin fibers lose their structure, resulting in a loss of skin volume and the formation of the facial wrinkles and folds that are common characteristics of aged skin. By its nature, hyaluronic acid retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1,000 times its weight. This helps to attract and maintain water within the extracellular space, hydrating your skin and increasing its smoothness, softness, elasticity and decreasing wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is also involved with the transport of essential nutrients to the skin's viable cells. Idebenone/Coenzyme Q10 -- An analog of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), studies show that idebenone shields skin from environmental damage, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, evens and brightens skin tone, increases firmness, reduces dryness and smoothes skin texture. Idebenone supplies all of the benefits as CoQ10 plus some distinct advantages based on its more complex chemical structure. Though very similar in chemical make-up to CoQ10, its longer chain organic structure gives it extra powerful antioxidant properties making it a more effective "free radical quencher" resulting in less cell and tissue damage. The molecules in idebenone can slip readily into dermal cells in the deepest layer of the skin, where idebenone neutralizes destructive free radicals. Idebenone does not only possess antioxidant properties but also has the ability to decrease collagen breakdown, which means less apparent wrinkles and lines. Idebenone also appears to counter inflammation on skin. Studies using idebenone have shown:
Matrixyl 3000™ -- An improved version of Matrixyl™, which has been proven highly effective in promoting collagen production and repairing the skin's dermal matrix, Matrixyl 3000 stimulates the dermal matrix molecules to even further reduce the appearance of wrinkles and restore/maintain skin's youthful appearance. Studies using Matrixyl 3000 have shown a 45% reduction of both the depth and appearance of wrinkles in just two months, and visible dermal lifting. Panthenol -- Also known as Provitamin B5 or the "Beautifier", panthenol enhances the strength, elasticity and softness of hair and skin due to its deeply penetrating moisturizing and irritated skin-soothing properties. |
